The Band Program is coordinated by the school. It provides opportunities for students in Years 3-6 to play an instrument in a band. There are Beginner, Junior, Intermediate, Concert and Stage Bands and a Recorder Group. Practices are held before and after school. This is a user-pays program. Our bands cater for complete beginners to highly accomplished performers with 4 Concert Bands and a Stage (Jazz) Band. Band Conductors and Tutors are professional musicians with a wealth of performance and music education experience.

The Virtual Band Project
2021
Over 80 students from Year 3-6 participated in this years Virtual Band Project lead by Mr Di Marzo.
2020
The Virtual Band Project was an idea formulated by Wahroonga Public School as the COVID-19 pandemic forced the cessation of band rehearsals and face-to-face tutorials during early 2020. With well over 200 students from Year 1-6 involved in the Band Program, tutorials went online and the Virtual Band Project commenced, encouraging students from Year 3-6 to learn then record their part from home listening to a 'click-track' through headphones to maintain a steady tempo (speed). As restrictions eased and socially-distanced tutorials were able to resume at school, some students chose to record their part at school. The resultant project is over 80 students coming together virtually, to showcase Barrie Gott's 'A Minor Journey', music can bring people together even during a global pandemic.
