Getting to and from school safely

As a parent or carer, it’s your responsibility to get your child to and from school safely. Student safety is our priority.

Keep our school community safe by:

  • driving and parking safely, even if it means parking further away and walking the rest of the way to school
  • being a good role model
  • never calling your child from across the road
  • using the safest place to cross the road.

For parents and carers of younger children

Discuss with your child how to be safe when:

Also talk about and practise:

  • safe travel routes
  • plans for when unexpected things happen
  • what to do in wet weather.

Subsidised school travel

Transport for NSW provides subsidies to assist school students.

  • The School Student Transport Scheme provides eligible students with free or subsidised travel on public transport between home and school.
  • The School Drive Subsidy may help towards the costs of driving children to school if you live in an area where there is no public transport.

Bus timetable & road safety

  • Transdev is the school's local bus operator. Morning and afternoon timetables can be found by following the link below.
  • Students require Opal cards to travel of buses.
  • For more information on Opal, visit transportnsw.info/school-students or call 131 500.
  • Should you have any questions for Transdev, contact 8700 0555.

Burns Road Blitz

Council rangers, police patrol cars, RMS crossing guards and parent volunteers all work together to try to enforce and remind motorists of the road rules around the school. Parents and staff members occasionally wear yellow vests and assist students where possible enter and exit vehicles in the 'no parking' pick up and drop off zones. The flow of traffic is critically important here. Parents dropping off and picking up in the no parking bays must:

  • move to the forward most position in the bay
  • wait in the vehicle while their child enters through the kerb side only
  • move on to a parking area further along the street if their child is not ready to be collected as other cars will be waiting for the space

Council rangers impose heavy fines for motorists who park in no-parking bays.
