Band News - Term 4, Week 7

BAND NEWS – Term 4 Week 7

2020 has been a year like no other. The students in the Band Program have shown great tenacity, commitment and resilience to see the year through with the many disruptions and changes due to COVID-restrictions, and should be very proud of what they have achieved.

The combined rehearsals these past few months have been full of energy and the bands have displayed a great full sound due to every instrument group being well-represented and supported. As such, and after much review, we are moving to three bands in 2021 – Beginner, Intermediate and Concert Band. The Beginner Band will be for the Year 3 and any new students to the Band Program. Intermediate Band will be a combined Year 4, 5 and 6 band, and Concert Band will remain as the top band in the Band Program for students who show exemplary musicianship, capability and potential; punctuality and attendance at rehearsals; respect for their peers, conductor and others; and a willingness to learn and be part of a team. Stage Band will continue as an extension to selected Concert Band students who wish to learn jazz, improvisation, rock and other styles of music.

There will be no auditions this year. Every student has been carefully assessed and placed in a respective band for 2021 based on their musical ability and commitment. Emails confirming student placement in their respective band and fee structure will be sent to parents today.
