Band News - Term 4, Week 5

BAND NEWS – Term 4 Week 5

It’s been another busy week in the band program this week. Concert Band are preparing for their Band Tour to Coffs Harbour in Week 8 where the band will perform at rural schools; engage in a cultural music experience with Uncle Mark, an Indigenous Elder; visit the Koala Hospital in Port Macquarie;  and enjoy some exciting team activities such as the Giant Swing and a dual Sky Wire.

Next week, the Year 2 students will have a special visit and performance from some of the students in Concert Band. The senior students will talk about their instruments and play them so the Year 2 students can have a better understanding of what the instruments look and sound like. This is the first stage in introducing Year 2 students to the Band Program. Information notes and enrolment forms will be distributed to Year 2 students in the next fortnight – parents who are interested in enrolling their child into the band program for 2021 are invited to send the form back to school indicating their child’s preference for instrument. Students are asked to choose three instruments in order of preference and we guarantee that they will be allocated one of these. It is necessary to do this so we have a balanced band in terms of instruments.

Thank you to Lily G, Keira C, Jeffrey N and Violet K for supporting the Beginner Band students in rehearsal this week and for all their help during rehearsals.

The Beginner Band Player of the Week was awarded to Talia A (trumpet). Well done Talia!
