Band News - Term 4, Week 1

BAND NEWS – Term 4 Week 1

Music from all five bands and the recorder groups filled the school with joy again this week. The students enjoyed coming together as a whole, and the amphitheatre was a peaceful and unique bush setting to rehearse in. Even the birds and bush turkeys joined in! Recorder students enjoyed learning as a group again with Mrs Moor, and it was great to see so many smiling faces.

BEGINNER BAND:

Students received a new piece in rehearsal today – Eye of the Tiger. Students, please take this piece to your tutorials next week – we will rehearse it with Junior Band at next Wednesday’s rehearsal. A reminder that Beginner Band rehearse on Wednesday and Friday mornings in the amphitheatre; arrival time 7:50am for an 8:00am start. Other pieces to practice include: Enchantment; Swansea Town; Regency Fanfare and Stadium Rock. A special thanks to Jeffrey N and Violet K for supporting the Beginner Band students in rehearsal this week.

The Beginner Band Player of the Week was awarded to Leo S (French Horn). Well done Leo!

The Beginner Band Musician of the Week was awarded to Delphi G (Trumpet). Congratulations Delphi!

JUNIOR BAND:

A reminder that Junior Band rehearse in the amphitheatre with Intermediate Band on Mondays and with Beginner Band on Wednesdays; arrival time 7:50am for an 8:00am start. New pieces will be distributed on Monday during rehearsal including Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, Eye of the Tiger and Sesame Street.

Junior Band Musician of the Week will commence in Week 2.

INTERMEDIATE BAND:

A reminder that Intermediate Band rehearse in the amphitheatre with Junior Band on Mondays and with Concert Band on Thursdays; arrival time 7:50am for an 8:00am start. New pieces will be distributed on Monday during rehearsal including A Festive Fanfare; Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, Eye of the Tiger and Sesame Street.

The Intermediate Band Musician of the Week was awarded to Sebastian L (Trombone). Congratulations Sebastian!

CONCERT BAND:

Concert Band received five new pieces this week for Term 4 and in preparation for Band Tour later this term: Mission Impossible; Frozen Medley; Pokémon; March of the Tin Soldiers and Jingle Bell Rock. Due to the Year 6 excursion on Tuesday 20 October, Year 5 Concert Band students will rehearse in the Burns Road Band Room on this day. Next Thursday’s rehearsal will be in the amphitheatre as usual with Intermediate Band.

Concert Band Musician of the Week will commence in Week 2.

STAGE BAND:

A very enthusiastic and passionate group of students resumed Stage Band rehearsals this week. Students should focus their Stage Band practice towards the following repertoire: Earth, Wind and Fire Dance Mix; The Way You Look Tonight; and Carger Blues.
