Band News - Term 3, Week 3

It’s been another busy week in all the bands with every band learning new pieces. As you are aware, we moved rehearsals away from the Burns Road Band Room for now. This is because there is a tree branch overhanging the Burns Road Band Room which needs to be removed. Mrs Filipic has asked that all bands rehearse in the Water Street Band Room for now, and tutorials will also be located elsewhere on Monday (and Wednesday if need be). Please see the following schedule for band rehearsals next week. Tutors and classroom teachers will advise students with tutorials where their tutorial will be for Monday 10 August. Thank you to everyone for your understanding while we have the tree works undertaken.

Monday 10 August:

There will be no Intermediate Band rehearsal today.

Junior Band will rehearse in the Water Street Band Room.

Tuesday 11 August:

Concert Band will rehearse in the Water Street Band Room

Wednesday 12 August:

To be advised by School Stream on Tuesday

Thursday 13 August:

Concert and Intermediate Band will rehearse in the Water Street Band Room

Friday:

Beginner Band will rehearse in the Water Street Band Room

VIRTUAL BAND PROJECT:

Thanks to those students in Junior, Intermediate and Concert Bands who have already submitted their recordings for the Virtual Band Project. The guide tracks for the pieces have been emailed home to parents and are also on Google Classroom for the students to access. Junior Band are recording A Minor Journey; Intermediate Band – WPS Burns Road March; and Concert Band – Kelvin Grove and Burns Road March. Students may upload their recorded part to their respective Google Classroom page. Concert and Intermediate Band students are also invited to record A Minor Journey if they wish. Please see Kate for the music.
