Band News - Term 1, Week 8

BAND NEWS – Term 1 Week 8

Diary Dates:

Tuesday 24 March – Band Meeting from 7:00pm in the Staffroom has been cancelled.

Friday 27 March – Outdoor Pop-Up Concert at school during lunchtime featuring Junior Band and Concert Band students

Friday 3 April - Outdoor Pop-Up Concert at school during lunchtime featuring Beginner Band and Intermediate Band students

Due to the need for the 2020 Band Workshop to be cancelled, we are excited to announce that the bands will instead have the opportunity to perform in an outdoor Pop-Up Concert on a Friday lunch time this term. The purpose of the concert is to offer the students the opportunity to showcase all their hard work from Term 1, and to bring happiness to the school community through music-making. The concerts will be held under the COLA and all performing students will be able to enjoy a treat following their performance.

All parents should have received an email/permission note. Would you please sign and return the note to indicate your child's involvement and for catering purposes, by Tuesday 24 March. Hard copies of the notes will also be available at the school office.

Saturday 4 April – Band Workshop has been cancelled.

Wednesday 27 to Friday 29 May – Band Camp is likely to be cancelled or postponed. We are working through ideas and dates at present.

Sunday 21 June – Wahroonga Music Festival (Beginner, Junior, Intermediate and Concert Bands)

The Wahroonga Music Festival is the Band Program’s biggest fundraiser for the year and funds raised help to keep the band fees as low as possible. Bands from all over Sydney come to our school to perform and compete for the title of champion band for their section, and to receive constructive feedback from an experienced adjudicator. In the past, there have been rides and delicious food stalls, and all of our concert bands perform on the day. We ask all parents in the Band Program to please volunteer some of their time before and/or on the day to support the event.
